I wrote this poem many years ago after a phone conversation with some dear friends. We used to live in the same town but one day I moved half-way across the country! The opening lines of the poem were the opening lines of the actual phone call. It melted my heart, and I missed my friends dearly. I wrote the poem down immediately after the call as a fun and special thing to send their way so they would know I was thinking of them. Fast forward a few years, I had become a missionary and moved overseas. Suddenly this poem became relevant to every relationship I had with nieces, nephews and friends. It was also relevant to all my co-workers who had left their family and friends in a different country as well. So, I decided to share it. The poem stayed the same but my amazing friend and artist, Jennifer illustrated it so that it could be turned it into something that could be shared with everyone. Turns out a whole lot of people don’t live right next door to their loved ones. This book is now for them.

*Full disclosure… Yes, books purchased from my page are $8.50 more expensive than the ones on Amazon and Yes, there is a reason… I get almost $10 from the sale of each book instead of $0.75 for books sold on Amazon. Why is it that way? Well think of buying the book from my page as a small way of supporting us, you get a book and we get a $10 “gift”. Getting the book from Amazon is the “normal” way. You buy a book and I make a little money, that’s why authors don’t get rich very often… you have to sell ALOT of books! 🙂
