Some callings are harder than they look from the outside. Missionaries, Christian workers, and foster and adoptive families across Central Europe are doing some of the most important work in the world. They should not have to do it alone.
There are people quietly doing extraordinary things in difficult places. Raising children who came from hard places. Serving communities they were not born into. Loving people who are not easy to love. They are not looking for applause. Most of them are just trying to keep going. What makes the difference between success and giving up is often as simple as having someone who understands, to walk with you.
For 18 years, across two continents and 17 nations, we have tried to be that presence. Not because we have everything figured out. Because we know what it costs to do hard things without someone in your corner, and what a joy it can be when you do.
Some days the work is harder than the calling you feel. You show up disappointed, discouraged, unable to see where God is in all of it. You wonder if you are failing Him. If everyone else has figured something out that you have not.
You are not broken. You are not crazy. You are having normal reactions to difficult situations. Sometimes all it takes is someone sitting with you long enough for the dust to settle, pointing you back to the love of God, back to who you actually are. Not just His servant. His child.
We have walked this road. We understand it.
Learn moreWhen your child is dysregulated and people around you think you just need to be firmer. When you are doing everything right and it still isn't working. When you feel like a failure, and it feels like the people around you seem to agree. What no one is seeing is that your child is not acting out. They are asking a question their heart knows too well, "will you leave me too?"
That child does not need a harder approach. He needs to know he is loved and worth loving. That takes years. And it is a hard road to walk when no one around you understands it.
We do.

Romania is a rich country, full of wonderful people, passionate missionaries, dedicated pastors, and foster and adoptive parents who have given themselves to some of the hardest work imaginable. What we found when we arrived was not a community in crisis. It was a community doing remarkable things, often without anyone around them who truly understood the cost. Following Jesus does not make the hard things easy. Loving a child from a difficult background does not guarantee it all works out. Life is more complicated than that. And the people living that complexity deserve someone who knows it.
We are a family raising four children, two biological and two adopted, on the field as missionaries. Tim works as a life and ministry coach and member care provider. Caroline is a certified TBRI Practitioner and member care provider as well. The road we walk with others is one we are walking ourselves.
We live 100% on the support of friends, churches, and partners who feel called to be part of what God is doing here. We don't pressure. We don't recruit. We simply live and work and trust that God will stir the hearts of the people He wants on the team. If that is you, you are not just writing a check. You are the part of the body that makes everything else possible. Some members get to be the hand that touches the need directly. Others are the bone and muscle behind it. All of it is necessary. All of it is the same work.
